drowning in money

about time. finally a victory over Man Utd. shock start but we settled in and it was one of the most convincing displays against United in a long time. may finally kick start our season after a sluggish start. even better that we won without Torres and also without Gerrard for a hour.

coming to the main point of this article. Man City is a joke. now that they've been gobbled up by a filthy rich billionaire Arab from Abu Dhabi, they're throwing cash at everything but the kitchen sink. as we say in hokkien, 'tim lui tek si lang' which translates as throwing money and crushing people to death with it and that's exactly what Man City is doing.

Al-Fahim must be deluded if he thinks he can get what he wants by throwing money around like water. there's three reasons why a club might sell its players.

1. club is desperate for money
2. player is unwanted by club
3. player wants to leave club

taking into consideration too, the status of the player to his club. if the player is a star player for the club and is valued highly by the club, no amount of money is going to buy the player if the above 3 criteria aren't met.

the targets of Man City such as Torres, Ronaldo, Villa and Silva among others, are all players of big clubs that don't really need the money. they are also star players for their clubs and are highly valued by their clubs. and i really doubt that any one of them will want to leave their clubs to a club of smaller stature like Man City.

so Man City can flaunt their cash all they want but they'll soon learn money can't buy everything.

what's that i hear you say? you're protesting that i am labeling Man City as a club of smaller stature? shouldn't they be a huge club now that they have all the wealth in the world?

no. they aren't. Man City may have huge, ridiculous amounts of cash but they don't have the stature of clubs like Man Utd, Real Madrid or Liverpool just to name a few. big clubs have histories and history is definitely one thing money can't buy. go ask Chelski, they should know.

with all his cash, Al-Fahim should get some lessons about respect. he should know better then to go around in public, naming targets and cash figures as he likes. Torres for 50 million, Ronaldo for 134 million, that's just disrespectful. bollocks.

which brings us to Liverpool. majority of the fans want Dubai to buy out Liverpool from the Americans but if Dubai is anything like the owners of Man City, i would rather stick with the Americans. seems like a choice of choosing the lesser of the two evils, and i definitely think the Americans are the lesser evil. in fact, i am quite indifferent towards the Americans.
