Max Payne

yay! another piece of news that we've all been waiting for. Max Payne is coming to the movies. yes andrew pan, it's finally happening. the news has been out for quite a while now actually, but i guess i wasn't so hyped up when they first announced it because it was only an announcement with no trailers or anything.i have yet to see the trailers tho. bloody university blocking most streaming movies. can't seem to find a download for the trailer.

based on the initial synopsis of the movie, it seems like there's a supernatural element to the story. and winged, supernatural-like creatures have been seen in the trailers as well as in the posters. that would totally ruin the movie as the game didn't have any supernatural elements to its plot. unless those creatures are from the dream sequences in the game. though they weren't any creatures in the dream sequences, that would be more acceptable rather than have them as a main plot item.

haven't seen the trailer yet but according to the comments, it sounds similar to Constantine. if it was a normal movie, i'd be delighted because i'm a huge fan of Constantine. but because it has the name Max Payne attached to it and is an adaption of the video game, i don't think being a Constantine look-a-like is a good thing.

Mark Walhberg and Mila Kunis as Max and Mona, they could have done worse but they could have done better too. all the main characters in the game were modeled after real life models and both Max and Mona were modeled after relatively unknown actor Timothy Gibbs and actress Kathy Tong. would be more faithful to the game to get them to act in the movie, and being obscure names would help too in my opinion.

Ludacris as Jim Bravura is radical departure from the game, but it's something i can live with (compared to the possibility of angels and demons in the movie). but where's Vladimir Lem? where did our favourite russian go? and our favourite thug too, Vinnie Gognitti.

loved the graphic novel cutscenes in the game and it'd be cool if they could reproduce it in the movie. they could take some still shots and stylize it to look like a graphic novel (perfect reproduction of the cutscenes from the game would be uber-cool), then introduce these scenes in the movie at the exact point where the cutscenes were introduced in the game. yeah, that's basically my wishlist for the movie.

haven't seen how bullet time is incorporated into the movie, hopefully it'll be alright.
