Fernando Torres!!

Yeah..it's been almost a week, but you'll have to excuse me as my internet connection was down for the past few days. But anyway...Torres!!

Looks like the long wait has finally paid off. I was getting worried that there was no major activity in the transfer market for Liverpool this summer. There were rumours here and there that we were targetting Torres, but it always turned out to be just that, rumours. So I wasn't paying much attention when the rumours crept in that we were targetting him.

When it turned out the rumours might just be true after all, I stood up and took notice, getting really excited. And fortunately, it happened. In my 10 years of supporting Liverpool, this is the biggest signing we've ever made.

Manchester United and Chelsea have record signings of 30+ million pounds. And it's really astonishing that Liverpool, which is one of the top clubs in England, of equal stature if not better than the two aforementioned clubs, only have 14 million pounds as their (previous) record signing. Man Utd and Chelsea have been signing players for 15+ million pounds consistently throughout the past few seasons. Therefore, the signing of Torres is an optimistic sign that Liverpool are starting to have the financial strength to compete with the other clubs.

The Torres deal was pretty hush-hush right until the very last stages of the signing, so even though there isn't any news now, I'm hoping that Liverpool are currently negotiating in some really top class transfers. We need two good wingers right now. Reports are Quaresma is our next target, I hope we land him.

Really looking forward to the new season now.
