This is Athens

And hopefully, this is where we will claim our 6th European Cup.

If there is any one city in the world that can lay claim to the title 'City of History', Athens would win, hands down. And it would be great if Liverpool can add another chapter to their glorious history in this historic city.

I've always read about the glory days of the Reds back in the 70's and 80's, where trophies after trophies made their way to Anfield. 10 League titles in between those 20 years, with 6 of those titles and 4 European Cups in the space of 7 years. Quite a remarkable achievement.

But it's been almost 20 years since we last won the league. Man Utd dominated the 90's, Arsenal and Chelsea, the better part of the 00's. Hopefully by winning our second European title in three years and with the backing of a new board, we will have turned the corner and embark on a new era, a return to our glory days.

But first things first, AC Milan stand in our way. They'll be out seeking revenge for the cup they claim we should have never won. You want revenge? Come and get it, to quote Leonidas. We'll be out to reclaim our position as kings of Europe that we lost last season. Conditions that will hopefully help to produce a match that will leave a mark in Athenian history for all the right reasons. Though a repeat of that historic match in Istanbul is very much unlikely.

Admittedly, Milan go into the game as favourites, but that won't stop us. Nobody gave us a chance as well in the 2005 finals. And that suited us just fine.

Go give 'em hell. Again.
